I guess it's always best to start with a sketch...a plan of attack, if you will :)
So, here were my three ideas for the mantis sculpture. I submitted all three to the client and they decided which one they liked best. Since they were all my ideas, I wasn't overly choosy with which one was decided upon...however, every artist secretly has a favorite! And luckily, my favorite was chosen!

ReplyDeleteWe passed by your praying mantis to and from school/work every day, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the changes that took place in creating this awesome piece of art. Saw that you will be on Chronicle tonight? When I told my daughter, she was so excited that the "bug man" was going to be on TV, and my 2 year old son keeps asking, "Where the bug go?" Thanks for sharing your work, and entertaining us on our commute!
